Hi,
I will be climbing Kilimanjaro the middle of October. I currently take 300mg mg lamotrigine in the morning and 200 mg in the evening to control seizures following the removal of a benign brain tumor. It is recommended I take Diamox during the trip to high altitude. Is there any adverse effects possible in doing this?

I am going to Tibet and have just started taking Diamox. Half a pill in the AM, half in the PM. An hour after taking it, I feel the arm tingling as described under side effects. But only brief (30sec) and only a couple of times. It then stops until next pill.
I have no problem with it - should I be concerned?
I leave in 2 days.

am suffering from headaches have just found out that i am pregnant and was told to stop taking acetazolamide tablets but i am flying in 2 weeks to grand canarie what advice could you please give me really need help.

It is not adviced to take any of pain relievers during pregnancy,especially at the start of the pregnancy. Try something like warm bath or massage. Good luck!

i take lamotrigine medication to control seizures. i am going to high altitude and want to use diamox for altitude sickness. diamox is also used to control certain seizures. is it ok to take diamox and lamotrigine together?

I would not advise to take them together regularly, but we don't have any data about severe interaction effects of these medicines.

What is the recommended dose for altitude sickness?
I am attempting a 10,000 foot climb, are middle aged but relativley healthy.

Dosage is 500 mg to 1000 mg daily, in divided doses using tablets or extended-release capsules as appropriate. In circumstances of rapid ascent, such as in rescue or military operations, the higher dose level of 1000 mg is recommended. It is preferable to initiate dosing 24 to 48 hours before ascent and to continue for 48 hours while at high altitude, or longer as necessary to control symptoms.

Can long term diamox use cause dental problem such as tooth deterioration?

Tooth deterioration is not listed in side-effects, however sometimes the side effects which are not listed can appear. If you think you are experiencing the tooth deterioration because of Diamox, tell this your doctor and he will change the treatment.

Do not take Diamox during pregnancy because it is in FDA category C, and has teratogenic effecys on fetus.
